Chancellor’s Citation Award
Our work on the UMass Web Ecosystem project was recognized with the prestigious Chancellor’s Citation Award in 2024, a testament to our efforts’ outstanding collaboration and impact across the university. The award celebrates our commitment to enhancing the university’s digital experience, innovative approach, and ability to achieve significant improvements aligned with UMass Amherst’s broader mission.
The Chancellor’s Citation Award is given to individuals and teams who go above and beyond, demonstrating exceptional performance and contributing significantly to the university’s goals. For the Web Ecosystem Team, this meant unifying the web presence of all major schools, colleges, and administrative units under a cohesive, accessible, and brand-consistent platform. It also meant fostering an inclusive environment and making information accessible to prospective students, faculty, and the broader community.
In the award video, members of the Web Ecosystem Team share insights into this project’s journey, emphasizing the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and the shared vision that led to its success. We navigated challenges with collaboration at the forefront, creating a system that not only centralized hosting and maintenance but also allowed each department to express its unique character.
The project significantly enhanced UMass Amherst’s online presence, offering a more streamlined and accessible experience for all users. The ecosystem’s success was not only about the technical build but also the lasting impact on how the university communicates its values and opportunities to its audiences.
Receiving this award has been an incredible honor, recognizing the hard work and passion that went into creating a web ecosystem that stands as a model for higher education digital experiences.
